Module 5: Create a menu

This follows on from the design a sandwich activity and is an opportunity for the children to create an entire menu which could be relevant to sports / athletics professionals.

Learning Objectives

  • To reinforce the message that it is important to eat 3 balanced meals a day
  • To encourage children to think about how to create a balanced diet
  • Advise on the benefits of salad and vegetables

NOTE: This activity is best taught in line with the module poster as children will need to have a rough understanding of what meals are appropriate for athletes.

Getting Started

  1. Please click on the "Activity" link on the left to download a printable menu sheet
  2. Print off the menu sheet out and hand one each out to the children
  3. Talk to the children about balanced diets, how to create them and what they should contain
  4. Ask the children to be as creative as they want when choosing what will be on their menu
