This activity is a simple way to ensure children put in to practice the learnings on the food plate by monitoring their weekly diets and sharing this at home and with the rest of the class.
Getting Started
- Click on the link on the left to open up a printable Food Diary. One A4 page contains a diary template for one week (Monday to Sunday)
- Hand out a weekly food diary to each of the children
- Ask the children to draw a picture of the food on the diary each time they eat or drink something
- Challenge the children to create the most colourful diary
- The week after, collate all the completed homework sheets and discuss the various health benefits of each diet
- Recognise the healthiest, most balanced diet AND the most colourful diaries to encourage children where they can improve their diets or congratulate them on their weekly diet
