Quorn Food Quest

Module 2: Food chain mobile

Learning Objectives

  • Provide children with an understanding of food chains
  • Educate children on where different animals and plants feature in the chain
  • Understand the definitions of each link in the food chain

NOTE: This activity works best when printed out for your children and can be taught alongside the food chain Interactive White Board for visual support and reference.

There are several different examples for each section of the food chain so you can split the children into groups or pairs for this task.

Getting Started

  1. Prepare for the lesson by clicking on the 'Activity' link to download pictures that represent different parts of the food chain
  2. There are five different animals or plants per food chain
  3. Print off these outline pictures from the food chain to distribute to your class (either individually, in pairs or in groups)
  4. When teaching this topic, click on the 'Poster' pdf to bring up the food chain poster PDF onto your IWB
  5. The poster includes the food chain structure to discuss with the class and broadly where animal groups fit within this chain
  6. Once the class have a clear understanding of the basics of the food chain you can move on to the activity
